 A local resident in Ashford (TW15) contacted me after struggling to lock his front door. 

 I removed the door’s multi-point locking mechanism and quickly found the problem — the gearbox had failed. 

 A genuine replacement gearbox was fitted from stock in my van. While on site, I also pointed out that the existing cylinder lock was worn and offered low security. The customer opted for an upgrade to a 3★ British Standard cylinder with a thumb turn inside for ease of use. With no letterbox in the door, the thumb turn was the ideal choice. 

 The door now locks effortlessly, and the upgraded lock provides improved security with the added convenience of internal keyless operation.
