 A customer in Borehamwood (WD6) asked me to convert his front door to work with a Yale Linus smart lock. He already had the parts and wanted everything installed professionally and working seamlessly. 

 The door had a nightlatch at the top and a mortice deadlock below. To avoid visible holes from removing the nightlatch, I kept its body on the door but removed the latch tongue so it couldn’t be engaged accidentally. I then planned a conversion from the deadlock to a euro sashlock, providing the follower and cylinder required for the smart lock. 

 I removed the mortice deadlock, chiselled and morticed for a euro sashlock, and drilled for handles. With the new handles operating the latch and the cylinder in place, the door was ready for smart hardware. The Yale Linus and external keypad were fitted in minutes, giving the customer app control and PIN access for guests. 

 The door now functions like a standard lever-handle setup with a euro cylinder, fully compatible with the Yale Linus. It looks tidy, works smoothly, and the keypad means no more spare keys hidden under the mat.
