 I received a call from a customer in Croydon (CR0) about a patio sliding door that had become increasingly difficult to lock. 

 After removing the barrel from the gearbox, the problem was clear — an internal part of the lock had snapped. This type of lock rarely fails, so I didn’t have a spare in the van. Fortunately, I was close to one of my suppliers. 

 The original model wasn’t in stock, so the customer chose an alternative brand — and, by pure luck, the shop had just one available. They didn’t have the correct strike plate, so I adapted the old one from the original lock. After cutting, drilling, and repositioning the keep, the new lock was fitted and working perfectly. 

 The patio door now locks effortlessly, restoring both security and convenience.
