Locksmith Stories 011 - Blocked upvc window

 A customer in High Wycombe HP11 contacted EPRLocksmith to unlock a jammed UPVC window and arrange for the replacement of several blown double glazing panels. While the glazing work was scheduled for later, the immediate priority was getting the stuck window open. 

 The window was part of a well-made Anglian system featuring three locking points — shot bolts on both sides and a central locking mechanism. Upon inspection, one side was releasing, but the other side and the centre lock stayed stuck. Thankfully, as it was a ground-floor window, so I could access the mechanism from outside. 

 After a few minutes of careful work, I managed to open the window and replace the faulty locking part. While on-site, I serviced all the property’s windows and spotted another unit with it's locking mechanism that was close to failing. 

 The stuck window was restored to smooth operation, and the proactive servicing helped avoid future issues. While Anglian windows are generally high-quality, they do benefit from regular maintenance to keep them performing at their best.
