 A customer in Walton-on-Thames (KT12) reported that their aluminium profile bi-fold door was becoming increasingly difficult to lock and unlock — sometimes taking as long as 10 minutes to open. 

 I removed the locking mechanism to investigate and quickly spotted that the top section wasn’t engaging at all when locking or unlocking. With the gearbox stripped down on a piece of kitchen roll (my blue towels were still in the van, and I was too focused to fetch them!), it didn’t take long to find the failed component. 

 These mechanisms are uncommon and costly to keep in stock, so I ordered a genuine replacement. In the meantime, I disassembled the top of the mechanism so the customer could continue using the door. A couple of days later, the new part arrived and was installed. 

 The door now opens and locks smoothly, restoring both convenience and security for the customer.
