Locksmith Stories 012 - Bicycle Shed Installation

 A customer in East Horsley KT24 reached out asking if I could help assemble a new bicycle shed. Since nothing else more interesting was in sight at that moment, I agreed, not fully realising the scale of the challenge ahead. 

 I’ve always enjoyed puzzles, shapes, and precision work — it comes naturally with being a locksmith. But this shed truly tested my patience. The instructions called for what felt like a million screws, washers, bolts, and nuts, and the design was far from user‑friendly. 

 Over two days, I spent 2.5 hours on day one building the frame and four internal supports. The remaining 3.5 hours went into fitting the sides, roof, and doors. At the end of the first day, I almost walked away without pay, just couldn't deal with the bs of it all, design and instructions, but the customer encouraged me to stick with it :-) and I’m glad I did, as I’ve never abandoned a job.

 Despite the less‑than‑ideal design, the shed was finally complete. It’s solid, practical, and ready to protect bicycles from the weather and unwanted attention.
